PSI’s HIV Department strives to improve the performance of PSI and national and international partners’ HIV interventions by applying best practices and piloting, proving, and diffusing innovations in HIV prevention. PSI has HIV programs in over 60 countries around the world.  Interventions, which include social marketing of HIV products and services and targeted HIV communication, share a commitment to producing health impact and an emphasis upon innovation and rigorous research and evaluation.

Although condom social marketing and behavior change communication remain cornerstones of PSI’s work to address the HIV epidemic, country programs and their international and national partners implement an increasingly comprehensive range of interventions in response to the changing needs of specific country contexts and populations.  PSI is a global leader in HIV prevention initiatives including condom social marketing, HIV counseling and testing, male circumcision, communication for concurrent sexual partnerships, and injection drug use interventions.

Key donors and partners include the US government via the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the Global Fund, DFID, KfW, Royal Netherlands Government and the Gates Foundation.
