Program Description
The program objective of PSI/Benin's Pro Fam Project is to improve accessibility and quality of family health services, especially among the most vulnerable populations. The program targets men and women of reproductive age. IPC activities include training of clinic managers and providers who are members of the Pro Fam network and Information Education Communication sessions at clinics and homes. IPC tools include visual aides, such as flip charts, used to facilitate discussion of the range of family planning services available at the clinic. Project messages include how to identify a Pro Fam clinic; and the range of services and family planning methods available at Pro Fam clinics. IPC facilitators include health care providers and trained assistants who focus on awareness and outreach; and PSI personnel working on the project. In 2005, the program reached 6,000 people in 210 sessions, including 1,500 men.
